LUISA OPALESKY

Luisa Opalesky (b. 1987) is an artist whose practice seeks to connect with all walks of life through photography, dance, and film. Versed in working with creative souls, and having a choreography background, the imagery in her work is collaborative, centered in movement and emotion. Latest works include “Daddy’s Daydream, a series inspired by intimate parental relationships, and "Beauty Trilogy". Originally from Philadelphia, she earned a BFA in photography mentored by George Pitts at Parsons New School for Design in 2010. New York City is her home since 2007 and source of inspiration while teaching at the Bushwick Community Darkroom and photographing for The New York Times.

Big City Nobody is the debut photography book of Luisa Opalesky, which will be released in December 2024. Capturing a nuanced, intimate reverence for city dwellers, urban artifacts, and traces of the natural world in downtown New York City, her focus reveals truths and excitement within her surroundings. Created between 2020 and 2024, Opalesky's photographs reveal glimpses of daily life, the vibrancy of nightlife, and outtakes from assignments for The New York Times and Interview Magazine.
